Taking Bookings for Bands to Play on the Pavilion

If you are a band or know any bands that you would like to see play on the farm's pavilion please contact the farm through the farm's email: douglasorchardandfarm@gmail.com

    We will again be hosting the Douglas Cultural Council's Summer concert Series this summer. look forward to some new bands and bands that you know and love. 

   All concerts 2019 season will be on Saturdays 6pm-8pm.

Shiitake Mushroom Event

MARCH 16, 2019

10am-2pm

Cost $5 per adult 18 and older


     This is a day to learn all about mushrooms. Farmer Nick will demonstrate the steps of natural log cultivation method. It is a hands on experience for those interested. Take a tour of the farm's own mushroom log site. Separate cost to take a log home with you.

Honey Bee & Recycle Awareness Day

10am-11am Honey Bee Program

11am-4pm Recycle events

Help Save Our Planet! Learn to be a bee keeper and recycle & reuse. Both are powerful constructive use of your time that can bring about positive change to our world. You CAN make a DIFFERENCE!

   

10am-11am: Honey Bee Presentation.

Learn about the role of the honeybees and how they are being affected by the environment. Ken Warchol, sixth generation bee keeper, will give a PowerPoint presentation on “Honey Bees in Our Environment”. There will be 15 different types of honey to taste from around the world. Don’t miss this unique honeybee program.

11am-4pm: Reuse & Recycle Program   Informational pamphlet of how you can Refuse, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Get a tour of the farm to see how we recycle and reuse. The first tour will begin after the honey bee program.  Additional tour at 2pm.

2:30-4pm Make a Reusable Bag  Learn how to sew repurposed feed bags into reusable shopping bags with Bonnie Combs of Bird Brain Designs. Please bring your own machine. There will be a few machines to use if you don't have your own.

There is a $5 cost for adults 18 and older. This cost includes the Honey Bee Program, farm tour and how to make a recycled bag.

Recycled Items the farm will gladly accept

-trash cans with covers, storage bins with covers, traffic cones -tarps, straps and bungee cords -feed bags, not paper -baskets and gift baskets -tea cups and saucers -construction and farm tool: ie power tools, hand tools, rakes, shovels any garden tools etc -flower pots, planters and containers, flower vases -towels and blankets -aluminum pans and stainless steel pans and bowls -ropes, twine, baling wire, rolls of wire mesh/fencing and posts -livestock water and feed containers -wheel barrow -bags of potions soil, lime (no fertilizer or pesticides) -pet carriers and crates, bags of animal bedding -ladders, and wood/metal planks -plywood (min. 4’x4’) -regular and pressure treated lumber (min. 4’ lengths) -paint brushes, fans -boxes of nails and screws, hinges, lag bolts We at Douglas Orchard & Farm appreciate your donations of the above items very much.   

It adds to the sustainability efforts of the farm. Please deliver items that are usable and in good condition. THIN ICE is a professional high-energy 4-piece rock band that has been together since 2004. . They play great hit songs the way they should be played; with great lead/harmony vocals, accurate solos and as close to the original song's sound as possible. Going from one song to another in 3 to 4 song blocks so you can keep jamming and dancing. 

Playing a unique blend of modern, classic and party/dance rock from the 70's to today, With THIN ICE you'll have a great time rocking out and dancing with your friends listening to all your old and new favorites.

Blueberry Festival-Live Music at the Pavilion: The Hip Swayers

FREE Event

First Annual Blueberry Festival.  Come kick off our blueberry  season for Pick Your Own blueberries. There will be entertainment on the Pavilion, vendors,  face painting,  and Bit' Chin BBQ food truck.  There will be a Berry Best  Blueberry Baking Contest.    The event will close with a great band, The Hip Swayers! "The Hip Swayers are a quality, good time, get up and dance band that combine tight rhythms, searing solos and soulful harmonies in an eclectic mix of originals and covers, encompassing straight ahead roots rock with a country flavor."

Enjoy a festive evening with Banda Gan Ainm (Band without a Name) a Celtic band bursting with the sound of fiddles, cello and guitar, heartfelt vocals, flute and penny whistle and toe-tapping percussion. The band will perform traditional Irish songs like “Whiskey in the Jar,” “Cliffs of Moher" and “Galway Girl” as well as popular songs like “Wild Night,” “Summertime” and “Country Roads”.  Classic Rock N' Roll band.  Lead vocalist Jeff is originally from Franklin and has played for years with his band.
