Living Off the Land: Education Series with Farmer Nick Blueberry Pruning Class

Join Farmer Nick in the blueberry orchard. Watch and learn how to prune your blueberry bushes. Pruning blueberry bushes increases fruit production and plant vigor. Drop in any time between 10am-4pm.

Living Off the Land: Education Series with Farmer Nick Shiitake Mushroom Event

March 14th, Saturday

10am-2pm

$5 donation per person

This is the day to learn all about mushrooms. Farmer Nick will be demonstrating the steps for showing natural log cultivation method and growing shiitake mushrooms. This can be a hands-on experience for those who wish to participate. Take a tour of the farm’s own mushroom logs site.
Separate cost to bring home your own inoculated shiitake mushroom log.

Honey Bee Program

April

Learn about the role of the honeybees and how they are being affected by the environment. Ken Warchol, sixth generation bee keeper, will give a PowerPoint presentation on “Honey Bees in Our Environment”. There will be 15 different types of honey to taste from around the world. Don’t miss this unique honeybee program.

Seedling Sale Pick Up Day

May 2nd, Saturday

9am-5pm

 Hosted by Worcester County Conservation District and Douglas Orchard & Farm. This is the day that you can get seedlings to start your gardens. For those who ordered seedling from the Worcester County Conservation District, pick up is between 9am-12noon. Farmer Nick will also have his seedlings for sale along with organic potting soil.
